Minimum Requirements

At least eleven (11) years of age.
-
High School Diploma or equivalent if above eighteen (18) years of age.

Must be authorized to be in the United States. (Visa holders and asylum seekers do not qualify).

No felony convictions. Juvenile records are exempt.
-
Must pass a criminal background fingerprinting check through a LiveScan with the DOJ.
-
Proficient in English; reading, writing, and speaking.
-
Ability to properly operate a computer and other programs (i.e. Office 365, Inform Mobile CAD).
-
Ability to professionally engage in a workplace environment.
-
Ability to deploy heavy equipment such as biometric ground sensors, radars, and e-bikes.
-
A good performance in any skill related to SFDED activities.
Current pay range
Member: $21/hourly
Supervisor: $22.50/hourly
Controller: $24/hourly
Managers: $25.50-27.00/hourly
Members who gain experience can expect to earn specific differentials and step scales on pay.
Per the MOU between the CSR and the FCA, this pay range is expected to increase by July 31, 2026

SFDed is expected to begin accepting general applications some time by late February. As of right now, we are ONLY taking applications for the school sites listed in the available jobs page. These include: O'Connell High School (651), Downtown High School (742), Aptos Middle School (431), Everett Middle School (529), James Lick Middle School (634), and Marina Middle School (708). The Department of Human Resources is prioritizing applicants from the above listed school sites.
To all January 2026 applicants
Deadline to apply: January 16, 2026 12p.m.
SFDed is currently recruiting to fulfill both full time and part time open positions on multiple school sites, including school sites at full capacity. Applicants will be expected to float around school sites if selected for the open positions. Due to a large influx of applications, SFDed will be closing applications for this month on January 16, 2026. Anyone interested in being considered for the member position and to begin training by January must submit their applications to the Department of Human Resources by Friday, January 16, 2025, at 12:00 p.m.
All applicants who submit their applications before the posted deadline will receive a questionnaire and an examination to evaluate experience and knowledge. Applicants who successfully complete the examination will receive a ranking score on the eligible list. If there are no system delays, the examination will take place before January 31, 2026. All applicants are reminded to check their email for updates and information, including their Junk/Spam folders.
Desirable Qualifications

Undergraduates or graduates from any accredited university or college by the U.S. Department of Education.

Proficient in other popular languages; orally, in writing, and/or reading.
-
Advanced knowledge in operation of computer penetration systems, such as Kali Linux and Ubuntu.
-
Advanced performance in any skills related to SFDED activities.
-
Knowledge in Administration, Research, Investigation, and Civil Rights.
