
Description
Under general administrative direction of the Branch Leader (01) and Division Manager (04), the Assistant Division Manager (05) assists in the management of a variety of stalking services activities in the Division of Downtown. The Assistant Division Manager (05) administers and oversees the daily functions of the division, manages complex special projects, enforces discipline, and substitutes for other Assistant Division Managers and/or acts as the Division Manager (04) in his/her absence, and performs related duties as required. Supervision exercised upon: LMs (07), Controllers (06), Supervisors (08), Members (10).
The Assistant Division Manager may be assigned to any division and may also be tasked with special projects or other responsibilities that align with this position's level of responsibility. This position is subject to a twenty-four (24) hour call-back during emergencies.
1) Supervises, trains, evaluates, and assigns work by instructing personnel; monitors compliance with rules and procedures, policies, regulations, practices, equipment use; evaluates staff work performance and recommends areas of improvement; schedules and assigns personnel and equipment; and emphasizes safety in the workplace.
2) Administers discipline by assisting with re-training, counseling, disciplinary investigations, and Skelly/grievance meetings.
3) Writes, reviews, and evaluates a variety of reports, correspondence, and instructions utilizing various computer software programs. Reviews reports to identify and recommend course of action when necessary.
Responds to incidents; conducts and investigations to make assessments and provide instructions and/or recommendations as necessary.
4) Participates in public relations activities and provides information to internal divisions, external organizations, agencies, entities, and the general public as needed.
5) Leads meetings and coordinates with other management/administrative staff.
6) Leads efforts in planning, developing, and interpreting/implementing policy. This includes assisting with initiating and/or implementing daily, routinary operations.
7) Coordinates responses to emergency situations. Deploys personnel and handles emergency situations, or service delays. Take appropriate actions to remedy or refund missed services.
8) Participates in developing goals and objectives for a specific work group including workforce planning.
9) Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
1) At least eleven (15) years of age.
2) Must be a U.S. citizen
3) Two (2) years of supervisory experience in stalking operations.
3a) Experience in evaluating staff on stalking performance and coaching.
3b) Knowledge and experience in labor relations, discipline process, and contract management.
3c) Experience in conducting investigations and recommending appropriate action.
4) High School Diploma or equivalent if above eighteen (18) years of age.
5) Demonstrates basic proficiency in utilizing computer applications related to the work of the assigned unit (to be tested during the selection process).
6) Knowledge and experience using Microsoft suite of programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, OneNote, and Teams.
