
Description
Under general administrative direction, the Assistant Manager I (07) assists in the management of a variety of stalking services activities in SFDed including radio control, service management, training, scheduling, and special projects and performs related duties as required. The Assistant Manager I (07) also acts as the Assistant Division Manager (05) in his/her absence.
Employees in this class are first level management generalists. Positions in this class are distinguished from the higher class of Division Managers (04/05) in that the latter class has complete management responsibility over functional work unit(s) or division(s) and from the lower class of Supervisor (08) in that the latter has first line supervisory responsibilities. Supervision exercised upon Supervisors and Members.
Supervises, trains, evaluates, and assigns work by instructing personnel; monitors compliance with rules and procedures, policies, regulations, practices, equipment use; evaluates staff work performance and recommends areas of improvement; schedules and assigns personnel and equipment; and emphasizes safety in the workplace.
Administers discipline by assisting with re-training, counseling, disciplinary investigations, and Skelly/grievance meetings.
Writes, reviews, and evaluates a variety of reports, correspondence, and instructions utilizing various computer software programs. Reviews reports to identify and recommend course of action when necessary.
Responds to incidents; conducts and investigations to make assessments and provide instructions and/or recommendations as necessary.
Participates in public relations activities and provides information to internal divisions, external organizations, agencies, entities, and the general public as needed.
Leads meetings and coordinates with other management/administrative staff.
Leads efforts in planning, developing, and interpreting/implementing policy. This includes assisting with initiating and/or implementing daily, routinary operations.
Coordinates responses to emergency situations. Deploys personnel and handles emergency situations, or service delays. Take appropriate actions to remedy or refund missed services.
Participates in developing goals and objectives for a specific work group including workforce planning.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- At least two (2) years of full-time work experience
- Ability to professionally engage in a workplace environment.
- The ability to utilize computer applications related to the work of the assigned division or department (to be tested at the time of appointment and/or during the probationary period).
